Opportunities
The Smart Lighting Center at Boston University (SLC/BU) seeks active participants at the graduate and undergraduate levels with various forms of financial aid.
Graduate
SLC/BU provides a number of funded Graduate Research Assistantships and Fellowships available to qualified applicants. These positions are awarded annually and include tuition remission and monthly cash stipend. Candidates will be selected from current and future students via the admissions process in the College of Engineering. If you wish to be recruited for the program, please apply directly to the ECE Department via our application process. Contact Karen Galvez, kgalvez@bu.edu for any additional information and application deadlines.
Qualified candidates are sought with potential for engaging in research in the areas of Photonics, Wireless Communications, Computer Networking, Circuit Design, and Embedded Systems.
Undergraduate
We seek participation by undergraduates via our Smart Lighting Research Scholar (SLRS) Program. In this program, undergraduates will be selected annually to participate in core research activities related to the BU team. Students will engage in specific laboratories under the guidance of one of the center’s faculty. We strongly encourage participation by students from underrepresented groups. Contact Professor Mike Ruane, mfr@bu.edu for additional information on the SLRS Program.
Download the 2008-2009 SLRS Program Application. All completed forms should be returned to Professor Ruane.
We anticipate integration of the Smart Lighting Center undergraduate program with future NSF REU initiatives. Please consider the annual Photonics REU Site opportunity as a means for engaging in Smart Lighting initiatives during Summer 2009. See http://www.bu.edu/eng/reu/ece/.
